Using The 4-Year Plan

Step 1: Download the 4-Year Career Planning Guide
Review the activities listed for each year of your college experience. The guide is designed to help you explore career interests, build experience, and prepare for your next step after graduation. While the suggestions are broadly helpful, your major or career goals may lead you to add different activities that better fit your path.

Step 2: Identify your priorities for the year
Start with the 鈥淵our Starting Point鈥 items listed for your class year. These are foundational steps that help you stay on track with career exploration and preparation. Then choose 2鈥3 additional actions from the 鈥淓xplore & Grow鈥 section that align with your interests and goals.

Step 3: Personalize your plan
Add your own goals or experiences that are relevant to your major, interests, or career aspirations. Your timeline may look different than someone else鈥檚 depending on internships, study abroad opportunities, research, or graduate school preparation.

Step 4: Meet with Career Engagement
Schedule a meeting (keep this a link) with a Career Engagement team member to review your plan, discuss your goals, and identify next steps. They can help you refine your strategy, connect with opportunities, and prepare for internships, jobs, or graduate school.

Step 5: Revisit your plan each semester
Career development is an ongoing process. Set aside time each semester to review your plan, reflect on what you鈥檝e learned, and update your goals as your interests and experiences evolve.
