Three authors will headline the latest Reading Series sponsored by 麻豆传媒团队鈥檚 Department of English on Feb. 26, March 19, and April 8, respectively. All the readings will take place at 7 p.m. in Ness Auditorium inside Hollenbeck Hall on the Wittenberg campus.
First up in the three-part series will be Marjory Wentworth, director of the Wittenberg Writing Center and Oral Communication Center and former poet laureate of South Carolina, on Thursday, Feb. 26. Wentworth will share poems from her most recent collection, 鈥淥ne River, One Boat,鈥 as well as new poems. The author of five collections of poetry, Wentworth has also published two children鈥檚 books and two non-fiction books. To learn more, .
On March 19, Elizabeth Brady, First Lady at Wittenberg, will read from her collection of essays titled 鈥淥il For Your Lantern: Sharing Light After the Death of a Child,鈥 published in 2024. The book, which explores Brady鈥檚 journey through loss following the unexpected death of her son Mack in 2012, recently won the small book category and was a finalist for the grief category in the 19th annual (2025) national Indie Excellence Awards. John Poch, professor of English and creative writing at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, will be the final featured author on Wednesday, April 8. His reading will be from his eighth collection of poems, 鈥淭he Future of Love.鈥 Comprised of poems written over the past 20 years, his collection is rooted in and inspired by the landscape of Spain, Federico Garcia Lorca鈥檚 surrealism, and Pablo Neruda鈥檚 eros. .
